Time's pedals : how replace the carbon blade ?

Time’s pedals use carbon blade like spring. Sometimes these blades crack or break… don’t worry, they are replaçable and it’s easy !

The tools

Once yours Time’s pedals removed from your bike, to replace the carbon blade you need a philips screwdriver, your fingers and spare pieces of course. you can find them in a bike shop or a web shop.

Time and difficulty

If the cover screws are not damaged or you ride without a cover, replacing a blade will take you no more than 5 minutes, including removing the pedal. It will just be necessary to find the blades and possibly the jaw, its axis or even the cover if necessary. Everything is repairable and replaceable.

Stage 1

Time's pedals : how replace the carbon blade ?

If the carbon blade of your Time pedals has broken, there is a good chance that the jaw and its axle have come out of their housing. If you were able to recover them, that’s good, otherwise they are also available as spare parts.

Stage 2

If your Time pedals have their cover in place, start by unscrewing the screws (green arrow).

Stage 3

We remove the cover. A screw will be used to hold the bearing surface in place.

Stage 4

We make sure that everything is clean and if necessary we clean the area.

Stage 5

We replace the axis and the jaw.

Stage 6

We push (green arrow) this piece to the bottom of the pedal.

Stage 7

If the pièce is placed at the bottom of the pedal, the jaw can be closed. Otherwise just press it again.

Stage 8

We turn the axis with the flat screwdriver to have the minimum tension. Flat part of the axis upwards therefore. It can be turned in both directions (we chose this one), there are three positions.

Stage 9

The carbon blade is slid over the axle in the direction of the jaw of the Time pedal.

Stage 10

The carbon blade is pushed until it is in abutment.

Stage 11

With a paper pencil, press on the carbon blade while pushing it to insert it into the housing of the Time pedal jaw (green arrows). When you hear a click, it’s done!
