Sram pedal boats adopt two standards, the BB 30 and the GXP. It is the latter that we propose to set up on a bicycle.
The tools
To mount a Sram GXP crankset, it is enough to have an 8 mm Allen wrench, grease and a mallet.

Time and difficulty
Nothing very complicated for setting up a Sram GXP crankset, it just takes a little grip and method. There is therefore an average difficulty. In a quarter of an hour, the operation should be carried out.
Stage 1

The crankset axis is coated with grease. For a perfect assembly it is essential.
Don’t neglect grease ! It allows you to plate the crankset well into the bearings. Without it, the tightening will be good, but there will be a significant risk of play. Game that we will not be able to adjust by tightening the crank screw more… With grease, everything fits perfectly!
Stage 2
We put the axis in the right bowl.

The Sram GXP axis is 24 mm on the right side, and 22.2 mm on the left side. Therefore, you cannot mount a Sram pedalboard on 24 mm « standard » bowls. Or you need an adapter. We will not be able to use the Sram bowls for another brand of pedals.
Stage 3

The crankset is well put by hand against the bowl.
Stage 4
There is no detromp on the GXP axis. We therefore pay attention to the alignment of the cranks.

Stage 5

We tighten the crankset tightly.
Stage 6
We hit with the mallet at the axis. Just once.

Stage 7

We eventually tighten the left crank. Sometimes it’s necessary, other times it’s not…
