Time and difficulty
Nothing very complicated for the installation of Sram GXP bearings bowls, it just takes a little grip and method. Apart from the identification of bowls, there is no notable difficulty. In 10 minutes the bowls will be in place! Add as much time for cleaning the box!
Stage 1
We start by cleaning the bottom case in order to have beautiful threads!
Stage 2
The grease is generously applied to the threads of the bottom case.
Stage 3
In the BSC boxes, there is a straight bowl with an anti-clockwise thread. Here, it is noted « Drive ».
The left is marked « Non Drive » and has an hourly thread. It is also only 22.2 mm in diameter… We will not be able to mount another cranset than the Sram on it.
Before you start screwing and get angry for nothing, identify the bowls well. We can sometimes screw the wrong one…
Stage 4
The right bowl is first screwed in the counterclockwise direction. This must be done easily until contact. If this blocks, it is because it is the wrong bowl or that the thread is damaged or dirty…
We then block at the key. You have to force a little anyway!
Stage 5
Grease is applied to both ends of the « tunnel ». We start with the left side and put it back in your bowl. More convenient to handle the whole…
Stage 6
We then put the whole into the pedal box. The grease will help seal the whole.
Stage 7
We screw the left bowl by hand. It must take place easily. It is screwed clockwise.
We block the bowl with the key. We force a little there again…
